Depending on your experience I would probably go the professional route. I’ve done both. Depends on how hands on you want to be. Interview the property managers and don’t be afraid to negotiate rates and terms. The more hands on and the more questions you ask the better the experience even with management.
I am about to close on a vacation property in the Pocono Mts in Pennsylvania. It is less than a mile from Lake Wallenpaupack, it is a beautiful property. The problem is I live about 3 hrs away from the house. I was thinking I could hire a rental management company, or talk to the neighbors to see if they could help for some extra cash. Any advice here?
